#12 Ford Coupling Garter Spring 4122. Ford coupling garter springs, which are circular, or “endless springs” formed of helically wound wire. These are used in oil seals, shaft seals, belt-driven motors, piston-ring expanders and electrical connectors. Garter springs provide a nearly constant force on seals as they wear and add to the elasticity and compliance of the seal.
